Balanced progression and development in horse and rider through exercises that stress: Willingness, Confidence, and Respect.
WILLINGNESS
Through Consistency, Fairness, Praise & Discipline
-Horses that have a JOB that requires thought and effort usually develop a much better work ethic
-In most cases the horse and/or the horses breeding will determine what job they are naturally suited for
CONFIDENCE
Horse and Rider both need this to work as a team
Confidence in your skills and in your program makes confident horses
RESPECT
Horse to Rider and Rider to Horse
-Many times horses don’t respect their owners because their owner doesn’t respect their horse
-Consistency, Boundaries, and Fairness are necessary to establish respect
Horse Training and Colt Starting
Colt Starting~
-Focusing on the mental and physical development of performance prospects
-The starting process is making them trainable through exercises developed to work on the 3 main points listed above
-In the mental development of colts, it is very important that they are not pushed too hard, but if they are not pushed or challenged enough, they don’t progress, or develop a work ethic
-In the physical development of colts, it is also very important that they are not pushed too hard, but they must, over time (months and years), be conditioned to do the job that they are expected to do
-Every colt is treated as an individual in a firm but fair manner, both for the type of horse they are as well as what discipline they will be doing
Advanced Training~
-once the developing process has begun and the horse is mentally and physically prepared for the next step, it is crucial that they advance
-advancement is striving toward body control, by communication, not by confinement
-developing a good work ethic and competitive nature (the "want-to") is very important if you want your horse to advance and compete
-advancing toward the correct recipe of finesse, power, & difficulty
Lessons/Instruction~
-lessons are custom tailored to work on the goals of the rider
-even progression and development of both horse and riders’ skills is favored
-similar to each horse, each rider learns through different means, so my lesson program varies depending on the rider
Sales~
-working to create a network of buyers, sellers, and horses to allow everyone to fulfill the goals that they have set in their horse experience
